Goodfellas Dealers Club
![]() We are all sick and tired of being taken advantage of, ripped off, scammed, etc. Although there is a comprehensive list of OUTSTANDING BAD DEALERS (clickable link to the thread contained within), there are deals that get done, or in some cases 1/2 done, that don't quite meet the criteria to make a member an OBD. This is where this list will take over. The hope is that this list of members will help those who are looking to deal, to feel safer when dealing here. That's not to say that things won't come up, or circumstances will prevent deals from being completed. That will be addressed as well. This is to help restore confidence in the process of buying/selling/trading equipment and other items as well. The requirements for membership are as follows: 1) You have completed 30 or more deals here, with no bad feedback whatsoever. 1 bad feedback (i.e. Buyer Beware, Need Help, NGTG, OBD) will have your name taken off the list, PERIOD. 2) You are willing to help out those who are in the middle of a deal gone wrong, in whatever capacity you can. That part is strictly volunteer, but it is strongly suggested that you help out a deal, whenever you can. Especially if you know one or both of the parties involved, or are reasonably local to either party in question. 3) For the benefit of those who are looking to deal with you, it is recommended that you place your status in your signature for all to see. This will only benefit you, whether you are making a deal, or looking for someone to make a deal with. You may use the following clickable status links to the list that your name will fall under: BRONZE STATUS MEMBER OF THE GOODFELLAS DEALERS CLUB SILVER STATUS MEMBER OF THE GOODFELLAS DEALERS CLUB GOLD STATUS MEMBER OF THE GOODFELLAS DEALERS CLUB PLATINUM STATUS MEMBER OF THE GOODFELLAS DEALERS CLUB In order to put these into your sig, simply Quote this post, copy the sig status that corresponds to your status. Then go to your Edit Signature function in your User CP, then simply paste it in there. 4) That you are at the very least, able to provide the link for your list of GTG deals. YOU WILL NEED A GTG THREAD OF YOUR OWN. We're finding that a link with a search of your name only lasts a few minutes and then goes dead. If you are as responsible a board member as you should be to be included in this club, then it's not too much to ask that you provide this. What will be done then, is as your name is listed under the different statuses, I will link your thread in your name, so other members can simply click on your name and go right to that thread. Thanks to Mychal, there is another way to keep your list growing right along with you, without having to create a GTG, although the GTG is the preferred method where this is concerned. Quote:
Any other requirement will be posted as this grows and becomes necessary. The status levels are as follows: 30-60 Deals = Bronze Status 60-100 Deals = Silver Status 100-150 Deals = Gold Status 150+ = Platinum Status I think that this should also be the place where if a NGTG, Buyer Beware or Need Help thread will be brought to the attention of the members and have it's progress tracked here as well. This way, members can decide for themselves whether or not to deal with an individual, even if the thread gets deleted somehow or another. We're not saying that you should ONLY deal with members on this list. But we do strongly recommend it. You are more than free to deal with whomever you wish, but as always do the right thing, cover yourself and search for feedback on the member in question. This is only to single out those who we can be confident in dealing with. Once you're in the group, if you wish to sign up to be a representative for your state, when deals go wrong and local assistance is needed to help the bad deal towards a "happy" ending, click here http://www.softballfans.com/forums/s...1#post11498329 Here's the link for the Social Group for you to join should you be in to such things: http://www.softballfans.com/forums/g...hp?groupid=237 Some important links to look at, read and comprehend before you deal for the first time, or again for that matter: Forum Rules For Deals - http://www.softballfans.com/forums/announcement.php?f=13&a=24 Best Practices for Buying/Selling/Trading - http://www.softballfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=657917 Rules and Regulations Before Posting - http://www.softballfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111466 Use the Proper Manufacturer's Forum - http://www.softballfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=527351 Outstanding Bad Dealers Listing - http://www.softballfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73715 Should you get scammed after reading all that, well here is some sound "non-legal" advice: http://www.softballfans.com/forums/s...0&postcount=13 So, none of this constitutes legal advice (sorry -necessary attorney disclaimer), but I've read about guys getting scammed here a few times and aside from what I regularly read as the typical protocol (tracking the scammer down through friends, work, etc.) there is other recourse if that doesn't work out. It is not without its own pains, but it can have some teeth if you're willing to take the time to see it through. File a claim in small claims court. Every state has its own particular rules, but most courts are really good about having self-help centers to see you through the process -- just google your court's web site -- chances are there is a link there. Small claims court is constructed to be simple, relatively quick and low cost. Your claims would be breach of contract, unjust enrichment and, perhaps, fraud. Your damages would be the fair market value of the bat plus, if your jurisdiction allows, fees and other costs associated with the transaction and, sometimes, (mostly in fraud cases) court expenses. The trial is easy enough -- lawyers aren't allowed -- you represent yourself -- it's basically just talking to the judge (plus written evidence like emails, mailing receipts/ tracking confirmation etc. -- their may be some rules of evidence to comply with, but the court should help with that). Chances are the scammer won't even answer the complaint -in such case, you get a default judgement -- or perhaps won't even show up to trial (basically same result -- you win). Now here's the tricky part -- enforcing the judgment once you get it. It's a bit of a pain. Again, there is usually help on the court's web site to walk you through this. If the scammer doesn't voluntarily pay, basically, you have to get a lien on the scammer's assets (bank account, whatever) and take the judgment to a sheriff who will act on it. At the end of the day, you'll get something back, but spend more $$ and time to do it. The real payback is the fact that you get to kick the scammer in the b@lls for stealing your bat. Good luck.
