Open Discussion for the SBF Modified Super Draft:

Besides when we are going to do it, let's start talking locations. I would like to see it in NY. I was almost thinking of Long Island as I have access to permits and fields up the ying yang. But a better idea came about. What about in NYC, Central Park to be precise. I think supe could help us out even where that is concerned.

I think if we just get as many people as we can, whether they play modified or slow pitch, I think that we can get the word out and show the world what modified is all about. I think if we exclude too many people just based on the fact that they play Slow pitch would be ridiculous.

C'mon guys, lets get serious with the discussion. This could be cool, but we all have to put in some work here for this to happen.

I think somewhere in the Northeast is key. Most of the players we get will be from this area. So I think it would make sense to do it in an area where there will be more "built in" support.

I think we have to make it open to everyone, modified or slowpitch. The thing is we are trying to get the game some awareness. To exclude slowpitch players because they have never played modifed would not make sense. Especially since many of them might not have ever been exposed to it. Doing it in the NYC area, makes it more attractive hopefully for people to come, since they can see of the sights and sounds of the city while they are here as well.

We should def. invite slowpitch players who are interested in modified. That's how the word is spread!! I know a bunch of guys who are non-board members who could go for something like this.
I have to admit that I don't have much access to Central Park permits, so maybe Long Island would be the way to go, if anything just so we can have the fields secured and legit.

When can this happen? It would be great if we could do it say, April? Maybe a good way to get some play early in the season. Also the guys who have experience in tourneys could maybe come up with an estimate of cost per player. I know there's alot to work out yet, but something to keep iin mind.

Count me in, and a few of my teammates as well!

Do you know anyone who has access to Central Park??? I just thought if we are going to attract enough people, NYC would be the way to go. I am not sure that Long Island is going to attract enough people. Don't get me wrong, it would be very convenient for me as I live on the Island, but I am just thinking ahead for Hotel accomodations, proximity to JFK or LaGuardia. I mean I can do it close to me, which is close to Islip MacArthur airport where Southwest Airlines flies out of everyday. Just thinking out loud here.

I think as far as getting the most people to participate we need to make sure we are either before or after the Michigan Superdraft. For those coming need to maximize thier ability to afford this. I think timing is going to be very very critical.

I think this is a good start. I would try to keep it in Central Park or Long Island. Maybe after Labor Day to avoid weekend traffic for the beaches. How about trying to get a couple of Sponsors on Board such as Miken, DeMarini, Worth etc. Possibly although it maybe not the way to go but Coors Light or Budweiser might jump on board if we can get in touch with a local rep. I am sure they would pay for Banners and help with advertising the tournament.
How about having the Championship videotaped and airing on Time Warner or CTV channel after the fact with information about the MMSC imposed on the screen. Just a few ideas to improve the exposure.

Rudy, every bit helps. All you have to do now is pick a number that has not been chosen (page 1 of the MMSC thread) and put your number and that you are a member of the MMSC in your signature. Believe me, every person can help. I can't do this alone, I need all the help I can get. Now if we could just find a psychologist...................
