When is the ASA convention?

Do you think they will pass the 52/275 ball?

Starts tomorrow in Reno!

It's possible, but tough to say. If they adopt the 52/275, it probably won't go into effect until 2011. We're less than 2 months away from 2010, and switching now would completely screw the manufacturers.

And I know your next question... Will they loosen up the bat restrictions? Maybe, but doubtful.

I'll keep y'all posted once I hear anything public.

i wish they would open up the bats,if they go to the knew ball.oh by the way,the docs will not be getting any edge with cheater bats with this ball,as the ball will be almost identically hit by all bats, within 2-3 mph each.

But think of the money they could save by going to the new ball and the 1.20 standard.
All the confusion would end about what bat was legal or guys sneaking in the new utrip bats until the banned list was updated and that junk.
They should go with a 1 year trial and start right back up if problems developed.

Agree. I say go to this ball and allow any ASA or USSSA approved bat. The confusion is endless and the vast majority of umps don't know a legal bat from an illegal one. I also agree that the distance gained by using a USSSA bat on .52 275s over an ASA bat is marginal.

in reality you could include the senior bats in this also,as they don't hit the ball that much better than any of the other bats.in our senior board(seniorsoftball.com)we have a guy who has looked into this and have results of all bats, doctored or not,and they all hit within 2-3 mph of each other.

asa convention

The umps in our asa league really dont know whats legal or illegal. They check for cracks and dents. They carry the lists and the ld is usually there if there is a questionable bat. Everyone knows each other, there is one or more players on every team that knows whats utrip or asa. Our league the umps let us use knob cuffs and gnr even though its not allowed. Saw from another thread that they are thinking about making these ok. You think u have to to tape over the cuffs?
